Irish is a state of soul. Countess Markieviez who was born in England. In the 1916 Rising the future Countess Constance Georgine Markieviez fought as a Commandant and second in command of a James Connolly Citizens Army Contingent. She supported the Irish, people, they became her people, as did their cause. and fight for freedom. She said “ I am Irish because I choose to be”. She was this in her heart and soul. They were her people and she was their’s until the day she died. So ones degree of being Irish is a soul and heart issue.

I'M SO PROUD TO BE IRISH AMERICAN. AND A LITTLE INFO ABOUT WE IRISH AND THE HISTORY OF AMERICA. MORE PEOPLE IN AMERICA CAN TRACE THEIR ROOTS BACK TO THE OLDE SOD THEN ANYOTHER OTHER COUNTRY! WE MAY HAVE BEEN FORCED TO LEAVE FOR TRULY AWFUL REASONS BUT IT'S NICE TO KNOW WE HAD SUCH A BIG PART IN BUILDING AN OTHER GREAT COUNTRY. IT ALSO WARM MY HEART TO KNOW THAT IRELAND IS DOING SO WELL THAT ALL YOUR YOUNG PEOPLE ARE NOW ABLE TO STAY AND FIND GOOD JOBS RAISE THEIR FAMILYS AND LIVE HAPPY LIVES. AND A BIT OF A SAD NOTE FOR MYSELF AND OTHER IRISH AMERCANS A LOT OF RECENT IMIGRINTS SOME SECOND GENERATION ARE RETURNING TO IRELAND AND WILL MAKE IRELAND EVEN A GREATER COUNTRY AND RAISE CHILDREN THAT COULD BE THOUGHT OF AS AMERICAN IRISH. IN ANY CASE THERE WILL ALWAYS BE AN IRELAND GOD'S GIFT TO US ALL. FOR THIS I'M GREATFUL AND PROUD. MAY THE SUN ALWAYS SHINE BRIGHTLY ON ALL OUR FIELDS AND IN OUR HEARTS. AND A SPECIAL THANKS TO DEIRDRE FEATHERSTONE WHO HAS ALWAYS BEEN GREAT. TOM FROM NYC
