How great to get Barry Maguire's image of Patsy Whelan! He played in our wedding at Nanny O'Briens pub in DC. If you ever get the chance, his act with Brian Gaffney should not be missed!

Interesting Pages. I carry my Mom's Irish family name Walker. Her Great great Grandfather George Walker came to America in1750 accompanied by his brother and sister. He met and married a irish girl and sired eight children. I found another George Walker on the WEB. Name: George Walker Dates: 1618 to 1690 Field of Fame: Military & Politics Nationality: Irish
Further Details: Born in County Tyrone, Ireland, of English parents George Walker (1618 - 1690) was a clergyman who became the governor of Derry, Ireland. In 1689 he raised a regiment in order to help garrison Londonderry before the seige of 1689. He led raids and sallies against the forces of King James II, and was recognised for his bravery by King William III. Not long after he was killed at the Battle of the Boyne while fighting for King William. He is commemorated by a statue in Londonderry, and he wrote 'A True Account of the Siege of Londonderry' (1689).

This is a great website. I'm so glad I found it. My dream is to one day take a trip to Ireland and see the place my daddy named me after (County Kerry). Having been born and raised in Brooklyn, New York as an American Irish, I still consider myself Irish. St. Patricks Day has always been a favorite holiday. Love to decorate for the holiday, play irish music, watch the St. Patricks Day Parade from 5th Aveneue in New York City. Have Corned Beef & Cabbage, carrots and potatoes, oh yes Irish Soda Bread for dinner as well. Now i'm currently living in Northern Maine/USA with my 2 children (Sean Patrick & Katherine Liberty). The children would also love to take a trip to Ireland. I just gotta win the powerball (smiles)...............Kerry

I have never been to Ireland, but if my hope and dreams come true, I will marry an irishman that I have come to love. Maybe for our honeymoon he will take me to his home country.

great great site....All those pics make me feel homesick. Oh God I miss Ireland so terribly. I have lived there between 1997 and 2001, but had to go back to Holland due to personal circumstances... I have sort of picked up my life here again, but miss Ireland everyday. I love you my beautiful emerald Isle....xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

We are the most caring, funny, serious and yet down to earth people on the planet. We come come from all corners of the world, yet have no bitterness towards those who forced us to live there. Our sea is the Atlantic and our home the Island which calms it.We know "Irishness is a way of thinking and doing ",and has no truck with the selfishness that undermines the idea of family and community. Those with power reduced the Irish people, at home and abroad, to nothing more than scivvys. And yet we have risen above the establishment and the discrimination it exercised to not only be "a nation again" but to be the key actors in the development of nation states across the globe.
You're right to be proud of being Irish or being " Irish" in the way you think and lead your lives.Read Irish history and be inspired by Collins , etc and know that you represent an alternative way of seeing the world.
Great website...from Scotland
